Looking back...

I have no idea what you will think of this post my dear readers but I´m taking my chances here.
Found this first picture a while ago and my thoughts were immedeately right back in the good old 80's.

I have such great memories from this time.
In 1985 I was 8 years old and you could probably say that the core of my taste is a product of this time.
I still love the (back then) popular posters of the Dancers and the brooken ballerina shoes, made by photographer Harvey Edwards. To be honest I´m still dreaming of having one of my own(never did back then), thinking if others would consider this to be the right thing to put on the walls in the year of 2010!?

And who doesn´t remember TV- series such as Dynasty, Dallas and Miami Vice?

Movies like Flashdance, Breakfast Club and Working Girl?

The great music?

Link
Then of course we have the backside of the 80's as well, with interior design looking something like this.

Mirrors in all shapes and sizes was such a big thing during this time as well as the typical ceiling fans. OMG!

But of course also the brighter side of the decade with its industrial look which was often used in loft-style interiors.
I rember this and have been dreaming of rough brick walls, Le Corbusier furniture and an open plan living in an old industrial building ever since.

Actually my eye for modern classics was first born during this time and I remember telling myself that when I once became a grown up, I would have a sofa with a steel frame around it(of course without having a clue of who Le Corbusier was at the time).

Hope you have enjoyed the post and that you might just consider leaving a comment about it!?

Thank you and bye for now!

Rain...

They rain is pouring down outside my window and the sky is all dark. I can feel autumn soon will be here with me. I´m really looking foward to it, it´s such a cozy time of the year!
Still stauday morning and haven´t got any plans for the day. Have received a lot of new catalogues and interior magazines during the last week and will probably take time to enjoy them later on today. Feels like heaven.

Hope you´ll all have a great saturday!
Would love to hear how you spend your weekends!

Get ready for a house tour...

From Swedish antiques(yesterdays post) to modern design.
Those of you who have been following me for a while now, knows that my taste can be very various and mayby a bit confusing.
But that´s just who I am and to be honest I don´t get this strange part of myself either:).
Better just accept what is and carry on.

I have a lot of favourite designers and of course Eero Aarnio from Finland is one of them!
Most of all I love his sense of humour- all showing in his design.

These pictures(down below) are from his home situated just outside Helsinki, nearby a beautiful lake.

Mr Aarnio has lived and worked in this gorgeous (self designed) house with his wife Pirkko for over 20 years now(that says a lot, doesn´t it?).

Aarnios home is filled with his own designs- from the original prototype for the 1963 Ball Chair(actually with a real phone in it) to new designs still in development.
His home for sure feels all relaxed and comfortable and I can see why they´ve stayed there for such a long time.

All in all I personally love Eero Aarnios home.
First it for sure feels like a 'real home', then we have all the glass and natural light coming in, the nature outside, of course all the great design pieces and last but not least the open bookshelves. Don´t you just love them?

Would love to hear what You think!
Sending lots of hugs to all of you!

Peace at home...

Photo: Sköna hem

Today I ´ve helped one of my customers organize a part of her home.
I´ve always known that our home environment has an impact on us humans(having my own experiences during periods of renovation of the house). But since I´ve started my own buisness for almost a year now, I´ve come to realize that our home actually has a huge impact on our well being!
I´ve helped quite a few by now, cleaning up and organize their homes as well as throwing away some of their things and they have all felt such a relief when it once was done. It´s almost like they´ve come alive once again.

I´m so grateful having the opportunitie to do this for a living.
Sometimes the cleaning part of course can be hard and there are days when I feel very exhausted.
But, being able to help people feel better is something that really counts for me and makes even the toughest days all worth it!

Thank you girls for leaving such nice comments here at 'Komma hem'.
I don´t think you know how much this means to me. I´m so grateful having you in my life now!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

One last day...

We are not closing down our summer house here at home, but today it for sure feels like it and of course with mixed feelings.
Tomorrow my common- law spouse is going back to work after 4 weeks vacation. Since I run my own buisness I´ve been working of and on all summer, yet I can feel a special monday is coming up.
At the same time it feels good to come back to normal routines and autumn for me always brings on a new start, new goals and new visions so I´m really looking forward for it to come.
Hope you´ll have a great sunday!

Ps. I love reading your comments, and of course would love to hear what You have to say about todays post. Thank you! Ds.

Saturday morning...

Photo: Sköna hem

I´m such a morning person and love this time of the day, especially during the summer months when I´m able to sneak out early, listen to the birds and just be in the moment not doing anything else.

I came across this poem the other day, and the words in it really gave me an 'Aha- moment'. Therefor I would love to share it with you.

"In another and better world things may be different,
but in this world to grow is to change and to have changed often
is to have grown much”

John Henry Newman

Hope you´ll have a great week end!

Vacation...

First of all a big sun flower to all of the girls leaving such cute comments here on 'Komma hem'.
You are fantastic!
Photo taken by me

Sorry I haven´t been around for a few days now!
Felt I had spent too much time by the computer lately and decided to take a few days not making any new posts.

This tuesday me and my common- law spouse also took a trip to Denmark, visiting my mon and stepfather on their vacation in Kramnitse, Lolland.

My mom and stepfather

It felt so good having a rest from the whole kitchen- project here at home.
Down below is an updated picture of the kitchen.

Do not be afraid of what you see!
The kitchen will not be in this blue color. Underneath the blue film you´ll find a white highgloss abstractct finish.

As you also can see there is such a mess here at home!

Yet, I´m trying my hardest to keep the place at least a little bit tidy, buying all kinds of storage, begging my common- law spouse(at the end of the day) please to put all the tools and other stuff(laying all over the place) in one of them. (Not being very successful.)
Now, if you look real close at the picture above you´ll see The Wassily chair standing in the corner of the kitchen(were it´s also suppose to be standing when the kitchen is done).

On our way to Kramnitse we stopped and picked it up from the storage it had been sent to after the auction was closed.
It was in really good shape and I´m so glad we bought it!

Having an eye for design my father also found The Wassily chair very interesting and really enjoyed the comfort.
Many other visitors here at home get supprised that the chair is not just good looking, you can actually sit in it too!

Now, back to our trip to Denmark.
My mom and stepfather had their stay in this cute private owned apartment with a beautiful sea view. I just love the simplicity the Danish people use when they decorate their homes as well as their eye for details.
It was all very simple, yet very cozy and unique.

Own photos

Also took these picture of the beautiful Oresund bridge(taken from inside the car, unfortunately showing quite a few raindrops on the window). An amazing bridge between Malmö in Sweden and Copengahagen in Denmark.

Photos taken by me

There is something special, romantic and beautiful about bridges, don´t you think?

Since the city of Kramnitse is situated very near Puttgarden in Germany we of course had to visit Boarder Shop(or at least the male ones did) :).
In this shop you can find all kinds of affordable beer, wine, whiskey, vodka, liqueur, you name it- they got it!

Own photos

Me and mom actually had a nice visit there as well, shopping sweats and some cheap but very nice looking jewellery.

Speaking of Denmark...
Recently came across this picture showing these unique full leather handles from Tine K Home.
I would love to put them on some storage furniture in my bedroom, home office or livingroom.

Thank you for stopping by.
I hope you found some great inspiration here at 'Komma hem'!?
